California bill would require restaurants to disclose food allergens on menus
The CRA remains opposed to SB 68 unless it is amended. The CRA-suggested amendments to the bill would put allergen information at the fingertips of every California diner without creating excessive costs and liabilities for neighborhood restaurants.
Downtown special event parking prices draw backlash from San Diego groups
The California Restaurant Association San Diego Chapter is joining the Gaslamp Quarter Association and East Village Association in opposition to September 1 changes in event parking prices in Downtown San Diego. The fees would jump to $10 per hour for 6 hours around each event – costing workers and guests up to $60 to park.
Total restaurant industry sales - Consumer spending in restaurants plateaued in recent months
“Consumer spending in restaurants remained relatively flat during the last few months. A 0.6% sales increase in June was sandwiched between declines in May (-0.2%) and July (-0.4%).”
August consumer confidence dips in US with jobs, tariffs and high prices driving most unease
“A measure of Americans’ short-term expectations for their income, business conditions and the job market fell by 1.2 points to 74.8, remaining significantly below 80, the marker that can signal a recession ahead. Consumers’ assessments of their current economic situation also fell modestly, to 131.2 in August from 132.8 in July.”

The City of Los Angeles is seeking proposals to design, furnish, and operate a full-service restaurant and bar inside a 6,000 sq. ft. space at Rancho Park Golf Course in West LA. The City will fund up to $4 million in build-out costs and provide design services, or proposers may use their own teams. Located across from FOX Studios and near Century City, the course hosts over 100,000 rounds annually, making it one of LA's busiest public golf destinations.
